Ed Sheeran is helping Jess Glynne relaunch her career with two new songs – after breaking chart records with his own album
EVERYTHING ED SHEERAN writes seems to turn to chart gold.
And now I can reveal the latest pop star set to enjoy the glow of the Shape of You hitmaker is fellow flame-haired artist JESS GLYNNE.
Ed is helping to relaunch Jess’s career by penning two songs, titled Thursday and Woman Like Me, with the London-born singer.
They are set to be “major components” on the follow-up to Jess’s debut smash-hit record, I Cry When I Laugh.
It’s the first time the pair have written together, but I’m told it was a perfect fit.
A music source said: “After the success Jess enjoyed with her first album, she has been able to pick and choose who she works with but was delighted that Ed came on board.
“His offerings are set to be major components of Jess’s album — his songwriting and her distinctive sound are a perfect fit.”
It’s the latest project in an already eye-wateringly busy year for Ed having already written tracks for pop stars RITA ORA, LIAM PAYNE and ZARA LARSSON.
And his third album Divide broke chart records earlier this year for having the most Top Tens from one album ever.
Jess has already enjoyed massive success in the UK, becoming the second British female solo artist after CHERYL to have five No1s.
Last year, Jess let slip that she and Ed had enjoyed a bit too much booze at the Brits 2015 after-party.
She said: “I was partying with Ed. I was not responsible for the state he was in though. I told him to drink less.” Hopefully, they’ll have more to celebrate once the album is out.
Kim hits the mark
KIM KARDASHIAN hit back at cocaine claims this week after mystery white lines were spotted on a table in her Snapchat video.
But on Tuesday, the only white lines she was sporting were on her Adidas shorts as she made her first public appearance since the drama unfolded.
Before heading out to dinner in New York, Kim shut down the accusations by zooming in on the table in her hotel room to prove the white lines were markings in the marble.
She said: “OK, I just got back to my hotel room and look at this table, same position. It is still there.
“This table in the background is a marble table. Like, come on. I don’t play like that. I have kids. It’s just not my lifestyle.”
After all the backlash, that must have felt sweet.
Keep your Mytts off Moss
LOTTIE MOSS had better not have too many break-ups or she’ll run out of space for angry tattoos.
Yesterday she was pictured with the words “Not yours” inked on her behind. And I’m told it’s because she has split from boyfriend ALEX MYTTON.
It has been anything but an amicable break-up, with Lottie – the half-sister of model KATE MOSS – accusing the Made In Chelsea lothario of flirting with other women.
In a now-deleted tweet last week, which included a gif of a woman shrugging, Lottie, left, wrote: “When he puts a story up with another girl.”
A pal said: “Their relationship has always been explosive. It was only a matter of time before they called it quits.
They could still get back together because they do have strong feelings for each other, but they have split up for now and she is furious about everything that has happened.
“She has been holidaying in Ibiza with friends and has made no effort to see Alex at all.”
The couple started dating last October after they were caught getting frisky in a nightclub toilet.
They moved in together in January, but their relationship has never been smooth sailing.
A source added: “They are very on-off but for now, they’re off.”
If they get back together, Lottie better get on the phone to a tattoo remover pronto.
Laura's Iain love
LOVE Island’s witty narrator IAIN STIRLING has found romance – with former Strictly Come Dancing star LAURA WHITMORE.
The pair first met at a party last year. A source said: “They kept their relationship private to give it the best chance but it’s well known in their close circle how happy they are. They are very much in love, introducing themselves as boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Meanwhile, on ITV2’s Love Island, evicted MIKE THALASSITIS and SAM GOWLAND were brought back, while OLIVIA ATTWOOD dumped CHRIS HUGHES.
Di-on trend
CELINE DION found fame singing the love theme from Titanic – and now she’s taken inspiration for her latest statement look from the movie’s infamous iceberg.
She wore head-to-toe white as she once again turned Paris into her own catwalk yesterday.
Completing the look with a Ralph & Russo hat and cape, Celine left the world in no doubt that she’s the most cutting-edge pop star in fashion right now, earning her my new feature, Di-On Trend.
Her bespoke white outfit was priceless – just like Celine herself.
Biz meter: film
SPIDER-MAN: Homecoming has stormed to the top of the UK box office with weekend takings of £9.4million. TOM HOLLAND is great in the superhero film, helping it see off Despicable Me 3, which took £5.3million, and ANSEL ELGORT’s Baby Driver, which has made £1.4million so far.
IT feels like there isn’t a single movie MARGOT ROBBIE hasn’t been linked to this year – now QUENTIN TARANTINO has his eye on her for his next flick. He is keen for her to play Sharon Tate, the wife of ROMAN POLANSKI, who was killed in the Manson Family murders in 1969.
THE Emoji Movie is just weeks away but Netflix is already planning a naughty spin-off. It is working on The Eggplant Emoji movie, produced by BEN STILLER, about a teen who cuts off his private parts on a camping trip then rushes to save them. Not one to watch with the family.
GUY RITCHIE’s Aladdin remake is turning into a disaster as he cannot find an actor for the title role. Filming for the live-action Disney flick has been delayed, with the part already rejected by DEV PATEL and RIZ AHMED. Jasmine cannot be cast until the lead is signed.
-JOHN NEWMAN has confirmed he is on the road to recovery after his brain tumour. Of his third album he said: “I have taken time to make sure I am well and to make sure what I do musically is the best I have made to date.”
-HIT musical Wicked has overtaken The Phantom of the Opera to become the second-highest grossing Broadway production in history. It has banked almost £900million since 2003. The Lion King is No1.
