When is Diana on BBC One? Princes William and Harry talk about the death of the Princess of Wales
PRINCES William and Harry have taken part in a new documentary about their mother Diana.
The landmark 90-minute show comes ahead of the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death on 31st August. Here’s everything you need to know about it…
What is Diana about and who does it feature?
Diana tells the inside story of the tumultuous and unprecedented week that followed the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, exploring how she came to have such an extraordinary effect on the nation and people around the world.
The film features in-depth interviews with her sons, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, speaking in detail about that week’s events from the moment they heard the news of their mother’s death to the day of the funeral itself.
They also reflect more broadly on her life and what she meant to them both then and now.
The film also includes interviews with family members, close friends, political figures and journalists, many of them speaking for the first time about the events of that week.
When is Diana on BBC One?
The documentary Diana is expected to air in August 2017, although no official date has been given.
It is likely to coincide with the 20th anniversary of her death which falls on the 31st August.
Directed by Henry Singer (Baby P: The Untold Story; 9/11: The Falling Man), it will last for 90 minutes.
What have Prince William and Harry said about Diana?
The Duke of Cambridge has said they decided to do the documentary because they wanted to ‘protect’ their late mother.
“Part of the reason why Harry and I want to do this is because we feel we owe it to her,” Prince William said.
"I think an element of it is feeling like we let her down when we were younger. We couldn't protect her.
"We feel we at least owe her 20 years on to stand up for her name and remind everybody of the character and person that she was.”
They have also spoken about their mother in a new ITV documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.
