GAME of Thrones star Dame Diana Rigg has died aged 82, leaving fans mourning around the world.

Who was Diana Rigg?

Dame Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg was born July 20, 1938.

She is a well known English actress who has been on TV since the end of the 50s.

She was made a CBE in 1988 and a Dame in 1994.

Diana has had roles on stage, screen and film.

How did Diana Rigg die?

On September 10, 2020, it was revealed Diana had passed away from cancer.

The Brit actress died "peacefully" at home this morning surrounded by her family after a six-month battle with the disease.

Her daughter, actress Rachael Stirling, said: "My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family.

"She died of cancer diagnosed in March, and spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession.

"I will miss her beyond words".

What TV shows and films is Diana Rigg famous for?

Diana is known for playing Emma Peel in the 1960s TV series The Avengers (1965–68), and Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones (2013–present).

She has also had an extensive career in theatre, including playing the title role in Medea, both in London and New York, for which she won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.

In 2017 Diana joined the cast of ITV's hit show Victoria.

She played the Duchess of Buccleuch, the young queen’s new Mistress of the Robes.

Her outspoken character helped to guide the monarch as she entered motherhood.

In 2020 she can be seen on our screens in the remake of All Creatures Great And Small.

On the big screen, Diana's claim to fame is being the only Bond girl who actually married the secret service spy.

She starred as Tracy in On Her Majesty's Secret Service alongside George Lazenby.
