Love Island’s Cara de la Hoyde comes to Gabby’s defence after viewers accuse her of game-playing as she complains about feeling ‘ugly’ and not being invited on a date
LOVE Island viewers were divided tonight when Gabby broke down about feeling “ugly” after not being invited on a date – but last year’s winner Cara de la Hoyde came to her defence.
Gabby is in a relationship with Marcel but her confidence took a knock when she realised she’d never been asked on a date with anyone in the villa.
She says in the beach hut: “I’m very happy with Marce but sometimes it would be nice to have a little bit of a boost from someone, I just feel like I’m the ugliest person in here.
“I know it’s stupid, I shouldn’t think like that.”
Opening up to Marcel, Gabby tells him: “I never get picked to go on any dates but I’m so happy that no one picks me to go on dates because they know me and you are that strong.”
“It’s not that I want anyone to try and come between us because it would never happen, it’s just for my own selfish insecurities… I’m sorry.”
Despite Gabby’s tears she didn’t win everyone’s sympathies.
One person tweeted: “Gabby has confirmed she's playing a game now! Why would you want to go on another date #loveisland”
Another added: “So Gabby has a man but wants be dating #Loveisland”
A third said: “Imagine how marcel feels because the girl he asked to be his girl is crying because no one is moving to her. That's a write off. #LoveIsland”
And someone else ranted: “Nahhh Gabby I'm not happy with what your doing right now. stop it #LoveIsland”
However last year’s winner Cara leapt to Gabby’s defence and said she understood how she felt.
Cara tweeted: “I do get abit where @gabbydawnallen is comming from last year it happened to me and it knocks your confidence & u think it's that reason
“but it's that your in a strong couple it has nothing to do with wanting someone else it just does knock your confidence @gabbydawnallen”
And after seeing the moving scene in which Marcel comforted Gabby and told her she was beautiful, Cara declared there was only one couple she wanted to win the show.
She posted: “The only people I'm handing my #loveisland crown over to is @gabbydawnallen & @marcel_rockyb end of ✌🏼 or I'm keeping it legit 👑”
