Who is Aasmah Mir? BBC Radio 4 Saturday Live presenter and Celebrity MasterChef 2017 star
AASMAH Mir is better known for her work in the radio studio than the kitchen – and sadly it looks like that's how it will stay.
The presenter swapped the microphone for the stove to appear on the new series of Celebrity Masterchef, but failed to last more than one show. Here's the lowdown on her...
Who is Aasmah Mir?
Aasmah Mir was born in October 1971 to Pakistani immigrant parents and from the age of 10 was brought up in Bearsden near Glasgow.
She graduated with a law degree from Bristol Uni before going on to work for STV in the early 90s.
And after a short stint in the Scottish print media, she moved into radio broadcasting, working her way up from producer of a radio phone-in on a local London station to Five Live, where she became a hit with fans alongside veteran Peter Allen on the drive-time show.
After 11 years at Five Live, she left the station in 2012 before going on to appear on the LBC afternoon show.
Now she is a co-presenter of Saturday Live on BBC Radio 4 and has also hosted Women's Hour on the station.
Had Asamah Mir cooked before appearing on Celebrity MasterChef?
The 42-year-old has spiced things up by working on her own YouTube cooking venture since leaving Five Live.
Aasmah started Cracking Curries with pals in July last year after Twitter fans bombarded her with questions about her kitchen skills.
She said: “I used to post pictures of stuff I’d cooked and people would reply to me asking lots of things about the dishes.
“So I thought, why not do something?
“It’s a self-financed venture, not commercial — I don’t make any money from it."
