THIS Morning was sent into chaos today when a segment on guide ponies led to one of the mini mares pooing in the middle of the set midway through the live interview.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were immediately sent into a fit of giggles.

The mucky moment happened while the This Morning presenters were doing a segment about Britain's first ever guide ponies.

The pair had been talking about the practicality of having a guide pony rather than a guide dog when the interview went down the pan.

Just seconds after Phil asked if it was possible to house train a pony, excited miniature horse Monet proceeded to empty his bowels all over a white rug.

The presenters had been chatting to guest Katy Smith, who began using a therapy horse to help her after she broke her back a few years ago.

Phil asked: "A guide dog is unlikely to poo on the kitchen floor. Can they be house trained?"

Then right on cue the pony decided to go to the loo in front of the camera causing Katy and the presenter to pause in shock.

Holly immediately burst out laughing and Phillip responded: "Oh there we go, perfect timing, absolute perfect timing."

As Phil attempted to continue the chat, mortified Holly struggled to keep her composure and continued to cry with laughter.

With mascara running down her face, the presenter apologised to Katy as she began to ask more questions about guide ponies.

Fans flocked to Twitter to share their reactions to the hilarious moment as one wrote: "#ThisMorning #PonyGate... #Has anybody got a bucket?... I laughed out loud at @hollywills and @Schofe 's faces!!! they were a picture x... "

The interview had already started off on a bad foot after Holly couldn't hide her fear as the pony nuzzled up to her while she sat on the sofa.

She joked: "I had Rylan trying to lift up my skirt yesterday and now I have you."

Later in the show, pop star Olly Murs decided to take inspiration from pony Monet and pretended to go for a poo on the show.

The cheeky chappy stood up during his interview and began unbuttoning his trousers much to the surprise of the hosts and fellow singer Louisa.

He then squatted in front of the sofa with his navy pants on display as those around him sat with their mouths wide open.
