Eighties duo Cannon and Ball among comedy greats hitting US in ITV show Last Laugh In Vegas
VETERAN comics CANNON AND BALL regularly performed to huge television audiences in their heyday.
And now the Eighties stars are being given one last chance to see if their humour is timeless on the grandest stage of all — in Las Vegas.
The pair will join fellow comedy greats including MICK MILLER, KENNY LYNCH and SU POLLARD on a new ITV show called Last Laugh In Vegas.
In total, eight legendary comedy acts will be seen leaving their UK homes to move in to a grand house in Vegas.
They will then rehearse together and perform a one-off show, which will form an hour-long special on the channel.
A source said: “Producers have pulled together some real household names from the world of comedy from the past 50 years. They are all real comedy heroes.
“Viewers will get some lovely moments of these stars reminiscing about the highs and lows of their varied careers. It’s a real celebration of British comedy.
“The theatre has been booked for one night only and the eight acts will be given the chance to fulfil the dream that they thought had long gone — putting on a spectacular variety performance at one of the iconic venues in Las Vegas.
“Playing there is a dream each of them has held but for one reason or another, they have not achieved it.”
Work will begin on the show this autumn, with ITV then planning to air it next year.
None of the names involved have ever played Sin City before so this could prove to be a golden opportunity for some of the older contestants.
We could all do with some feel-good telly right now.

She's Eva so sexy
EVA LONGORIA looks worlds away from her Decline and Fall alter ego as she relaxes in Vancouver.
The actress recently appeared in the Beeb’s version of Evelyn Waugh’s classic novel which was filmed in the Welsh Valleys.
But Eva opted to wear something skimpier than her 1920s gear for this Instagram shot on Monday, which she captioned: “Here’s to a great week y’all!”
Her Decline and Fall co-star JACK WHITEHALL told us it was tough to control himself around his childhood crush. This picture won’t help.
Nadiya's baking lots of money
WHEN NADIYA HUSSAIN won The Great British Bake Off in 2015, it was clear she was destined for big things.
But now her earning potential can be revealed, as she made a huge £200,000 in her first year of fame.
According to accounts for her firm, Nadiya Hussain Ltd, she paid herself the sum of £113,256 up to November 2016.
And Nadiya – who was a full-time to three kids before her Bake Off win – can expect to see her income rise even further next year as the figures will include subsequent book deals and TV work.
A source said: “These figures show Nadiya’s potential.
"She’s gone from a stay-at-home mum to successful businesswoman in a very short time.”
Nadiya is already set to host two new BBC shows – Bake Off replacement The Big Family
Cooking Showdown and Nadiya’s British Food Adventure.
If she keeps taking on all this work, she’ll have no time to count her money.
SOAPBOX
THE Morgans are devastated in tonight’s episode of my favourite soap HOME AND AWAY – as Brody’s drug secret is unveiled.
After Tori tells Mason that Brody has just been arrested, the pair rush home and Justin reveals he has kicked Brody out. He won’t tolerate drugs in the house, especially with youngsters Raffy and Ava there.
On fellow Aussie soap NEIGHBOURS, Elly tries to clear her name after Finn claims his ex tried to smother him with a pillow while he was in a coma.
While Elly denies it, no one else entered Finn’s room at the time of the incident, after which his limbs were paralysed.
Let’s hope Doctor Karl can come to the rescue and prove Finn has been faking paralysis.
Danny's host job canned
DANNY DYER and on-the-spot improvisation would probably have ended with the air being turned very blue.
But Channel 4 has dodged a bullet, as I’m told the EastEnders star was lined up to present Host the Week’s third episode – before I revealed the flop show had been axed.
And while Danny, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, was keen to take on the role, his EastEnders bosses put a stop to it.
A source said: “Given his quick wit and laddish ways, Channel 4 producers thought Danny would be the perfect fit for Host the Week.
“He was keen, but was forced to decline as his BBC bosses were having none of it.
“It was a real shame as he could have really helped boost the programme and the fact he turned down the role was just another nail in the Host the Week coffin.”
Danny’s stint on the show would have come after JACK WHITEHALL took to the helm.
The madcap programme was given the boot after just one episode, despite SCARLETT MOFFATT’s best presenting efforts.
The I’m A Celeb champion appeared alongside C4 newsreader KRISHNAN GURU-MURTHY and came face-to-face with BLUE singer DUNCAN JAMES.
The show failed to impress viewers, pulling in just 450,000 for its one and only episode.
You could fit more people in the Queen Vic.
