Top Gear in hot water after supercars driven through undersea tunnel at 150mph – triple the speed limit

Police, who were tipped off by sensors in the road, are demanding to know who was at the wheel

TOP Gear had a special speed licence revoked by Norway’s cops after one of its supercars did 151mph in a 50mph tunnel.

Producers had won a special permit for the cars to do up to 87mph.

Police scrapped it after one of the motors was revealed to have hit three times the normal limit.

Yesterday filming was continuing but with both cars limited to 50mph.

Police chief Anne Berit Lian said: “At present, one cannot determine who is behind the speed violations. The investigation is aimed at uncovering this.

Permits to exceed the speed limit have been revoked.”

A BBC spokesman said: “We are fully co-operating with the police.”

Romsdal was meant to have been a location in 2016 featuring a Ferrari and a Lamborghini.

Back then Chris Evans was host.
