Funny Girl star Sheridan Smith pulls out of musical after contracting mumps

Actress will be replaced in the lead role of Fanny Bryce by Natasha Barnes at Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, Essex

ACTRESS Sheridan Smith has pulled out of musical Funny Girl after contracting the mumps.

The actress, 35, was forced to abandon the tour as a precaution.

She will be replaced in the lead role of Fanny Bryce by Natasha Barnes.

Funny Girl, which tours till August, is on a seven-date run at Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, Essex.

The theatre said: “Everyone wishes her a speedy recovery.”

Sheridan took two months off from Funny Girl with “stress and exhaustion” last summer.

It followed reports she appeared drunk on stage.
