Big Brother’s ratings plunge to less than half of Love Island’s as the saucy show wins the reality TV war

BIG Brother’s ratings have plunged after going against Love Island in the reality TV battle.

Big Brother scored a moderate 690,000 viewers on Sunday night, a pale comparison to Love Island’s huge audience of 1.5 million.

It was the sixth consecutive day where Big Brother failed to reach over one million viewers. The series made a limp start with the lowest ever ratings for a Big Brother launch – scoring just 1.3 million.

Producers are now pulling out all the stops in a latest twist that will see housemates date new contestants, mimicking their rival show Love Island.

Rylan Clark-Neal has announced that three new guests will be entering the Big Brother house on Tuesday and bosses will be hoping it brings a ratings resurgence.

The civilian series only kicked off two weeks ago and has seen former CBB housemates Nicola McLean, Marnie Simpson and Gemma Collins make an explosive return as part of a shopping task.

Now bosses have decided to shake things up a little more as they’re planning to throw a few more familiar faces into the famous abode in 24 hours’ time.

Rylan said: “Three brand new guests will be entering the house tomorrow. On a dating task.”

Sunday night’s episode of Love Island landed it’s second biggest audience ever as the romance heats up and new arrival Mike Thalassitis stirs up the drama.

Mike, 24, coupled up with Olivia Attwood as furious Chris Hughes watches on in the dramatic episode.

Love Island is currently averaging at 1.3 million viewers per episode.
