He told the panel: "Come on he's not going to get a job at Roy's Rolls. No chance. He's going to get his comeuppance. Bethany's going to go on a very brave journey and we'll all witness that."

The actor told how he didn't hesitate accepting the role when he found out the dark nature of the storyline.

He said: "I absolutely loved the writing. I really loved the scenes I was given and the stuff I was told was going to happen. As an actor you really want to get your teeth into something. It was talking to my wife during the preparation for that she said this is going to be really important.

He added: "Absolutely everyone who has come up to me has been really really lovely."

The schoolgirl – who is played by actress Lucy Fallon in the ITV soap – has run away with Nathan, but when he loses it in the car before telling her she will be going abroad alone, she begins to doubt him.

Bethany can be seen becoming increasingly more terrified the more Nathan turns and as her future becomes clearer.

Though her ordeal won’t last much longer as The Sun Online revealed how Nathan will be imprisoned for his crimes.

The evil pervert will be sent down to separate him from Bethany as she prepares to testify.

“It’s so difficult for victims to come round to the point that they are willing to testify against somebody they thought loved them so we’re going to be watching her go through that journey,” Chris exclusively told The Sun Online.

He added: “The good thing is that Nathan will be in prison for that.

“His tentacles don’t quite stretch that far, but we haven’t seen that yet.”
