Anne Nolan ‘in talks’ to join Coronation Street to follow in the footsteps of late soap star sister Bernie
The singer, 66, is hoping for a role in the hit ITV show after her younger sister made a name for herself in Brookside
THE Rovers Return could be the new regular for Anne Nolan after it was revealed she is "in talks" to follow in sister Bernie's footsteps and become a soap star in Coronation Street.
The singer, 66, has revealed she is "waiting for the right role" on the hit ITV show in what is sure to be a poignant career choice, following her actress sibling's tragic death from breast cancer in 2013.
Prior to her passing aged 52, The Nolans star had been popular with soap fans, first starring in Channel 4's Brookside as Diane Murray in 2000, before switching to The Bill.
It seems her elder sister Anne caught the acting bug and is now poised to make her mark on tea-time television.
A source : "Anne and her whole family are massive Corrie fans and she was really excited to be invited to the soap on the back of her acting videos.
“She’s waiting to be called back when the right role and storyline come along for her. The dream would be a long term role but she’d be delighted with a short stint too.”

Anne, who herself battled cancer in 2000, told the publication: "If a suitable role came up, I would jump at the opportunity.
"Who wouldn’t? To be part of such an iconic production would be fabulous.”
Anne is no stranger to acting and recently confirmed she would be returning to the stage to take part in the pantomime Snow White later this year.
She will play the Wicked Queen in the production which will open to audiences at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock, Staffordshire, from December 22 to December 30.
Anne, who has appeared in over 30 pantomimes in her career, will then travel with the show as it moves to The Muni Theatre in Colne, Lancashire, from January 6 to January 21 2018.
A spokesman for the soap said: "As regularly happens when casting a serial drama like Coronation Street, actors come in for readings with no specific character in mind. Anne Nolan has been in to read for us but wasn’t seen for a particular role.”
