Paul O’Grady shocked as man tells single lady he hopes she’s ‘not a dog’ on Blind Date
PAUL O'Grady was left shocked when a man on Blind Date told single girl Debbie that he hopes "she's not a dog".
In a preview clip for the first episode on today's This Morning, Paul hilariously takes JJ to task over his dodgy comments.
Debbie asks the boys: "So I think we've all got an animal inside us waiting to be unleashed, what animal would I be getting if I picked you?"
JJ replied: "I'd like to say I'm a big teddy bear but I just hope you're not a dog!"
The audience screamed with laughter at his cheeky comment as the camera panned to a shocked Debbie who couldn't help but giggle at his response.
Paul had a shocked look on his face as he walked over to the famous partition and told him: "You can't say that about the girl JJ!"
Returning to Debbie, he added: "I think he means metaphorically you know? A nice little chihuahua!"
Debbie from Southport, who works in insurance, is the first to take on the seat on the revamped version of the famous dating show, which kicks off on Channel 5 tomorrow.
The 29-year-old is looking for love after suffering a tragic loss, but now wants to plan a happy, future with a loyal new partner.
In the frame to make her dreams come true are Ryan, 36, who works in advertising, cheeky holiday rep JJ, 25, and Richard, 27, a carpenter from Bristol.
Each of the men have their own reasons for applying to the show, with Ryan eager to meet someone "normal" who will get him off the "dating carousel of craziness".
JJ - who describes himself as a "cheeky lad" - wants to meet a fun girl to keep him on his toes, and Richard wants to meet a lovely girl he can serenade with his Spanish guitar.
Meanwhile, Paul stunned audiences during filming last month with a joke about his late friend Cilla Black, who used to present the show in its 90s heyday.
They included forgetting contestants’ names, tripping over his words and swearing.
After one slip-up he said: “How the f*** did Cilla do this for 25 years? No wonder she was on cocaine. God bless her, wherever she is.
“Her spirit is here you know, p****** herself laughing at me and ruining my show — causing all the issues. What can I do now? Oh I think I’ll go and have a line of coke while I wait.”
Paul, who delivered the eulogy at Cilla’s funeral, also told the London Studios audience that his pal had a secret wild side.
- Blind Date starts June 17 at 7pm on Channel 5
