The star showed the work it took to create the medieval action epic, now available on DVD
MATT Damon has given fans a glimpse behind-the-scenes to show what it takes to create his latest film, The Great Wall.
For the new movie, which is now out on DVD after a critical box office release, Matt reveals he had to learn archery and was left hanging in the air as part of the special effects that created the epic new film.
In a special behind-the-scenes featurette released exclusively to The Sun Online, the 46-year-old shows cameras the work that goes behind creating the massive spectacle that ends up on screen.
The Great Wall follows Matt Damon’s character William, a European mercenary who has travelled to China with his team in order to discover the secret of gunpowder during the Song dynasty over 1,000 years ago.
However, on arrival the team are slain by a mysterious beast, leaving only William and one other person on his crew alive.
They soon fall upon a hidden secret behind the iconic Great Wall, and are soon recruited to help save the country, and possibly the world, from the monsters it’s trying to keep away.
The action epic will also star Willam Defoe and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal as the team unite with an elite Army tasked with keeping the monsters at bay.
It is the first all-English film directed by Zhang Yimou, and is created in association with Chinese and American production companies, the China Film Group and Universal Pictures.
- The Great Wall is available now on Digital, 4k Ultra HD, 3D Blu-ray™, Blu-ray™, DVD and On Demand courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Legendary Pictures
