Who is Milkshake Kelis?
Kelis was born Kelis Rogers on August 21, 1979, in New York.
She is a singer, who is best known for her hit single Milkshake in 2003.
Kelis' name is a portmanteau of her parents' two first names, Kenneth and Eveliss — and they were a jazz musician and a fashion designer respectively.
At the age of 13, rebellious child Kelis shaved off her hair and was kicked out by her parents three years later for bad behaviour.
How did Kelis get famous?
After forming her own band BLU (Black Ladies United) while studying music in New York, Kelis was introduced to Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes.
They helped her secure a record deal and she released her debut album Kaleidoscope in 1998.
It did well in the UK but her second album Wanderland, which didn't even get a release in the States in 2001, was a flop.
However, with her third album Tasty, and its lead single Milkshake, which came with a very suggestive video, Kelis finally hit the big time.
The lyrics "My milkshake brings all the boys to the bar" is still a commonly-used expression, decades after the song was released.
Her other singles include Bounce, a collaboration with Calvin Harris, and Jerk Ribs and Rumble.

When did Kelis start dating Bill Murray?
In June 2023, the internet went into meltdown when it was reported that Kelis was dating Ghostbusters star, Bill Murray.
The actor watched the singer perform from the side of the stage in London in late May 2023 - having also been spotted at her other shows.
Sources say the pair were also together at the same hotel, and have been “getting close for a while” after first meeting in their native US.
They have reportedly bonded since Kelis’s second husband died in 2022, while Bill’s estranged wife passed away in 2021.
Who else has Kelis dated?
Kelis married her first husband, rapper Nasir Jones AKA Nas, in 2005.
They divorced in 2009, the same year their son Knight was born.
The singer then married photographer Mike Mora in 2014.
They had two children together before he sadly died in 2022 from stomach cancer.
