Love Island’s hot new hunk Chris Hughes reveals he overcame mental health battle with hypnosis after months of ‘sickening’ anxiety and panic attacks
LOVE Island's hot new hunk Chris Hughes has revealed he overcame his mental health battle with hypnosis after suffering crippling panic attacks.
Chris, along with Jonny Mitchell, sent pulses racing in the villa when they were a surprise addition to the show on Tuesday night.
But while he's busy chatting up the ladies in the luxury mansion, Chris previously opened up about overcoming "sickening" anxiety and panic attacks.
Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Hopefully this may help certain people who'll relate: It was about May 2013 when I finally overcame anxiety and panic attacks, most sickening months of my life where you never know what your you're guna do.
"And it wasn't until my mum knew and I spoke out about it I could sort things out.
"It hit me again summer just gone but I knew from the breathing techniques, imagery and everything else I was taught, getting over it wasn't an issue.
"Took time and money but it was the best I ever spent.
"Can only thank one man for that, David Crees, a cognitive hypnotherapist, and his company Ethical Minds.
"Don't hesitate for help when it's there, that blokes a genius" (sic).
Meanwhile, Chris immediately made his presence known in the villa, chasing three and girls and winning a kiss from one in his first 24 hours.
The confident hunk spent time with Chloe, Montana and Camilla but insisted in the beach hut that he was keeping his options open.
Rating himself as a 9.5 out of ten and better looking than David Beckham, Chris's overconfidence rubbed Montana up the wrong way.
She said: “Who says ‘I’m a 9.5 out of ten?’ Even if you do think you’re a 10 out of 10 you don’t say 9.5 do you? You go for a modest 7. Chris is really nice but he says these one liner comments which I’m like ‘ugh, shut up.'”
Camilla has played it steady so far in the house, and that doesn't change with Chris's arrival, despite her admitting she likes what she sees.
The beauty said: “Chris is really nice, I definitely can see a lot of common ground between us. I definitely like what I see so far. I’m not sure how that’s going to progress.”
At first, Chloe Crowhurst felt left out as Chris seemed to prefer brunettes.
However, keen not to limit himself, he began to pursue the Essex girl and admitted he had a spark with her as she kept him on his toes.
He said: “I don’t know, there’s just something about her, she keeps me on my toes a bit more. I kind of like that. I feel like I have to be on a bit of a watch out.”
Viewers will be able to see tonight who he shares his first kiss in the house with.
- Love Island continues tonight on ITV at 9pm
