EASTENDERS’ Don Gilet laughed as he told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby he thought they were ‘blacking up’ after putting on black mosquito net hats.

The actor appeared on today’s show alongside Laura Fraser to promote his new TV show The Loch and made the joke after talking about the problem they were having with mosquitoes on set.

As Holly and Phil distracted Laura and Don, the pair quickly put on their nets – much to the amusement of Laura and Don.

As they laughed, Don admitted he was confused by what was going on at first and joked: “I thought you were blacking up to make me feel welcome!”

Laura grinned and nudged Don while Holly and Phil giggled and moved the conversation on to how the masks had been helping the crew on set.

Laura explained: “They get everywhere! In your eyes, up your nose!

Don then added: “The crew were wearing them, and you have to pretend they're not there.”

The Missing star Laura plays Detective Annie Redford in the show, which has been billed as must-see thriller this summer.

Laura told The Sun Online of the six-parter: “There’s this strange and horrific set of murders that have come to the town and nothing like this has ever happened before.

“The community has been penetrated by this killer and nobody knows if it’s from within or from somewhere else. Annie knows secrets about certain people in the town and everybody has their own shadow. It’s scary when you look at what people are capable of.”

But while Laura may have refuted comparisons to Broadchurch, the level of security on the set of The Loch certainly mirrored it.

She explained: “I didn’t find out who the killer was until we shot the final episode.

“The producers tried to keep it a secret from the cast. We didn’t even get the full script of the final episode, they just gave us scenes from it.

“I think they were worried that if one person knew, the secret would get out.”
