AIDAN Turner has become a household name thanks to his leading role in BBC’s Poldark.

Who is Aidan Turner?

Aidan Turner, 36, is an actor who was born in Ireland on June 19, 1983 and studied at Dublin’s Gaiety School of Acting.

He began his career working on theatre shows before making onto the small screen with a recurring role on The Clinic and a part in BBC production, Desperate Romantics.

Aidan made waves after landing a part in BBC Three’s supernatural drama Being Human in which he played vampire John Mitchell from 2009 to 2011.

Aidan is 1.83m  – just under 6′ 1″ tall.

Who does Aidan Turner play in Poldark?

Aidan became a household name thanks to his role as titular character Ross Poldark in the 2015 revival of the BBC series.

The show is based on a series of historical novels by Winston Graham, with the first TV adaption airing from 1975 to 1977.

Is Aidan Turner single?

The  reported the actor has popped the question to his mystery lady, less than a year after he split from girlfriend Nettie Wakefield.

Aidan had also been in a five year relationship with actress Sarah Greene but the pair called it quits in November 2015.

However, by June 16, 2018, it was revealed that Turner had started dating Caitlin FitzGerald.

The pair met on the set of The Man Who Killed Hitler and were seen walking hand-in-hand on the streets of Paris.

The couple are still thought to be together.

What else has Aidan Turner starred in?

Aidan has also enjoyed success on the big screen thanks to his part in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy.

The actor plays the dwarf Kili and nabbed the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer for his performance in The Desolation of Smaug.

He also played a shadowhunter-turned-werewolf Luke Garroway in the Hollywood fantasy adventure film, The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones.
