ED Sheeran has proved there's nothing he can't do after reaching yet another career high... by fitting 55 Maltesers in his mouth.

Not content with record-breaking sales of his latest album, Ed made the chocolatey conquest while appearing on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke.

The host brought out a stash of Maltesers after Ed admitted to previously managing to store 47 in his mouth.

While James only managed to stuff away 26, Ed persevered and managed to beat his previous record.

Ed's stint on Carpool Karaoke included performances of Shape Of You, Thinking Out Loud, Castle On The Hill and a surprise cover of One Direction's breakthrough hit, What Makes You Beautiful.

Ed also revealed how he recently injured pop heartthrob Justin Bieber, 23, during a drunken golf adventure in Tokyo.

He, 26, told James: "I was in Tokyo the other day and Bieber was there. It was just him, no security or anything and he came to this really filthy dive bar.

"We ended up at this golf course and he put a golf ball in his mouth and said 'go on, hit it out' and I was pretty hammered."

Ed explained: "I had this driving wedge and cracked him across the face.

"He was actually really cool about it, surprisingly. He was like 'Oh, bro!' and then just carried on."

James has recently been spotted dressed as Mary Poppins while filming a segment of his Late Late Show in London.

Dressed in a frilly white dress with red ribbon, similar to that made famous by Julie Andrews in the hit 1964 movie, the comedian stepped out in front of busy traffic to film a sketch for the Late Late Show.
