A picture of Joan posted online showed her meeting a teenage fan who was watching the concert with friends.

The person tweeted: “Ariana Grande's mum is strolling through the crowd telling fans: ‘Do not be afraid.’”

Tonight, acts including Miley Cyrus, Take That, Katy Perry and Coldplay performed at the fundraising concert at the Old Trafford cricket ground.

Ariana organised the event after the terror attack at the Manchester Arena on May 22.

More than 100 people were injured and 22 were killed when Salman Abedi detonated a nail bomb in the foyer just minutes after Ariana had finished performing.

Joan’s kind gesture isn’t the first time she has reached out to her daughter’s fans.

She was in the front row of Ariana’s concert and rushed to help people to safety after the explosive device was detonated.

One week on from the attack, Joan thanked the emergency services and the people of Manchester for their efforts.

“My heart goes out to all the victims: those who lost their lives, those injured, those recovering and all survivors of that night, along with the families & friends whose grief knows no bounds.

“I stand with you all in the face of evil & we stand together to never let it rule our lives!

“Thank you to all those who helped in any way that night in Manchester. I continually thank those who are & were in service protecting our freedoms every day all over the world!”

Ariana paid an emotional tribute to those who had lost their lives as she said performed for the final time.

The singer said: “I want to thank you all for being here today. Thank you for being here and being so loving and strong.

“I love you guys so much the kind of love and unity you are showing is the medicine the world needs right now. I want to thank you for coming. I love you so much.”
