ITV bosses this week emailed staff after an inspection of the studios, which also host Good Morning Britain, fronted by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

The message says “the mice are more intelligent than we first thought” and are ignoring traps. Presenters — who also include Lorraine Kelly and the Loose Women — and crew are urged not to eat on set.

And they are advised not to wear clothes made of natural fibres after moths laid eggs in a scarf and mohair jacket.
