ISSY Simpson shocked Simon Cowell when she read his mind back in 2017 on Britain's Got Talent.

She made it all the way to the final and returned for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions. Here is everything you need to know about the young competitor...

Who is Issy Simpson?

Issy Simpson is a 10-year-old magician, who astonished Britain's Got Talent judges with her first audition in series 11.

The spellbinding child performer made Simon Cowell choose a page number from one of three books she brought with her, and then made Alesha Dixon choose a random word from that page. She then revealed she had written the word Alesha chose on a blackboard before the show, leaving the judges open mouthed in amazement.

The singer then stunned Simon by revealing she was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of him holding up the four of diamonds on it - when he had chosen the card earlier in her performance.

Issy idolises Harry Potter character Hermione Granger and is inspired by the beloved series in her magical performances.

So she was delighted when Simon said: "This is real life Harry Potter. I don't know how you do it. You have magical powers."

Issy was the runner-up and came second to pianist Tokio Myers, while comedian Daliso Chaponda placed third.

Why was Issy Simpson controversial?

Even though Issy managed to impress the judges and the Britain's Got Talent audience with her trick, fans suspected the talented child may have had help.

Her grandpa is a professional magician, and was the person who got her interested in magic and helped her hone her skills after buying her a magic set a year ago.

But fans fumed when it emerged grandpa Russ Stevens had previously worked as a magic coach on the show and accused bosses of fixing it for Issy to get past the judges.

However, a BGT representative confirmed she had gone through the traditional audition process and earned her slot.

They added: "She idolises her granddad – and has always been inspired by him.

"She is just a little girl who is following in her granddad's footsteps.

"The family are really upset – and worried if people will pick on her at school because of this."

Issy added: "I worked with my granddad on the tricks, and I loved showing them to judges. The producers on the show didn't tell me what to do."

What has Issy Simpson been doing since Britain's Got Talent:?

Despite not winning the show, she has gone on to have huge success and is making a career out of performing magic tricks.

Not only has she signed to the same management team as Daniel Radcliffe, she was also given a prestigious award at the world famous Magic Circle.

A quick look on Issy's Instagram page, which is managed by her parents, prove she is still very much into magic.

On August 3, 2019 a video of the magician waving a passport was uploaded with the caption: "Exciting news...I am at the airport.

"Going to Las Vegas to perform for the first time there. Have a great day everyone love Issy."

Her official website states she has "appeared in a run of sold out shows in Abu Dhabi" and made her US TV debut on NBC's Little Big Shots.

In March, 2019 Issy announced she was rehearsing for her latest project - the Issy Simpson Magic School.

When is Issy Simpson taking part in Britain's Got Talent: The Champions?

Issy Simpson featured in episode four of Britain's Got Talent, which aired on ITV on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Despite wowing the judges with her incredible card trip it was Stavros Flatley and comedian Preacher Lawson who made it through to the final.

But her touching tribute to her late dog went down well with viewers at home.
