In the final scenes of the show, Tommy announced to his mother: “Mummy I did it. I’ve found my brother.”

However some viewers have already began to speculate if there might be another twist to the tale and Kat’s son might turn out to be American character Kieran or villager Andrew.

Kat had thought she had found her son after years of searching and believed it was a farmer, but the murderous priest is believed to be her son.

They cited how he was told he was adopted in 1983, when Zoe Slater – his twin sister Kat was forced to grow alongside as an older sibling – is said to be born a year later.

The first episode ended with a drowning mystery cliffhanger as Kat’s  “son” drowned Lance Byrne (Ian McElhinney) after force feeding him a holy wafer.

Lance’s father mourned his death – completely unaware he had been killed by Dermott

Thursday episode saw the immediate aftermath as Adeen discovered Lance’s body washed up on the beach.

Lance’s children and grandchildren came from far and wide to attend his funeral as the village came to terms with his tragic passing.

Peter invited Alfie and Kat to the wake but the EastEnders character was hesitant despite Kat’s eagerness to attend.

A confrontation between Kat and Agnes in front of her son Dermott led to Kat’s seven-year-old son Tommy discovering he had an older sibling.

The episode also saw Alfie’s health issues highlighted when his vision became blurry

His anger at Kat’s decision to leave the sleepy fishing village led to Tommy running away causing Kat and Alfie to begin a frantic search.

Tommy managed to find his way to his older brother and the priest took his younger sibling into the church.

Meanwhile Jessie has promised fans that they will see a softer side to Kat, and revealed she did all her own stunts for the show – one of which saw her submerged in freezing murky waters.
