Britain’s Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec head down memory lane with ITV special Ant & Dec’s DNA Journey
Ant and Dec's DNA Journey will use a combination of DNA and genealogy research to go back further in time than other shows
IF DANNY DYER digging into his history can get a BAFTA nomination — imagine what award-magnets ANT AND DEC will get for doing the same.
The Geordie duo are following the Eastenders actor down memory lane, and are hoping to discover royalty in their blood.
But they are not going on BBC show Who Do You Think You Are? like Danny, instead making a one-off 90 minute special with ITV called Ant & Dec’s DNA Journey.
The show will use a unique combination of DNA and genealogy research to plot their family histories – going back further in time than any show has done before.
They will be joined by family members as well as meeting long-lost distant relatives.

And in a unique twist, the show will culminate in a big reveal in which the best pals discover if either has blue blood - or if they are actually from pauper stock.
Ant and Dec said: “Tracing our ancestors using pioneering DNA methods has been a fascinating and emotional process so far.
“We have discovered some amazing things which have shocked and surprised us and we still have hundreds of years to uncover! We are looking forward to sharing our journey with the audience.”
They’ll always be TV royalty even if they’re not by bloodline.
