Pearl, who plays Bill Potts, teased: "It could be loads of daleks in there or it could be the Doctor's granddaughter. Who knows? You'll have to see."

Eamonn joked: "It's a bit like deal or no deal"

And Pearl replied: "I don't think there's any money in there."

Fans noted the comment as one tweeted: "Did Pearl just let slip who's really in the Vault?"

The resident of the mystery chamber has been a hot topic among fans during the new series as some speculate that either The Master or Missy could be inside.

It was revealed in an episode that the resident can play the piano and they were heard playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

Pearl also spoke about her future on the show following Peter Capaldi's decision to move on from his role as the Doctor.

She admitted: "It's not up to me whether  I stay on the show or go. Working with Peter has been wonderful and our dynamic together really works but that's not to say it wouldn't work with a new actor.

"It's just an adjustment. So time will tell what happens next."
