Mark referenced Mr Motivator, whose energetic exercise segments and brightly coloured outfits were a big hit on GMTV in the 90s.

Lorraine replied with a giggle: "The thing was with Mr Motivator, I can tell you this now, he had to wear that because tight Lycra - thin, tight Lycra -and a bulge... you need something to distract the eye."

As Mark burst out laughing, Lorraine continued with a naughty glint in her eye: "And that's what that was all about. It was his signature look, but it was for health and safety as well, that's what it was all about."

Lorraine's cheeky comments come just days after she was forced to deny she was wearing a very rude dress on her show.

Referring to the comments, the Scot laughed: "People have been saying 'What is on it?', and making rude comments!

"It's milkshakes, it's not a shuttlecock, or any other kind of... that. It is a milkshake."

She then jokingly sang a snippet of the hit Kelis song Milkshake, which famously uses very strong sexual innuendos.

Lorraine was left similarly red-faced last month when she mistook a description of bananas for something else during a chat with baker John Whaite.
