However, his plans are scuppered when her former flame Matt (Jack Hickey) shows up in the village to confront her about why she never told him about the sudden death of their son Billy when he was two months old.

Speaking on This Morning, Mark explained: "He loves this women. She's kind of out of his league but she doesn't behave like it.

"She's a wonderful mum to his kids. All the ingredients are there for it to be the right thing.

"And then this really good looking Irishman turns up. What it does for Marlon is that it holds everything up.

"It throws everything into a new light again just when he thought he was getting somewhere."

The news that Marlon and Carly's romance will hit the rocks once again will no doubt come as a huge disappointment to fans.

Just a few months ago viewers saw them fall apart when the blonde beauty failed to help the pub chef's daughter April after she choked on a sweet because she was still being tormented by Billy's death.

Mark said previously: "From his point of view it's heartbreaking because he is in love with her, and he's a character I think who is in love with the idea of being in love.

"He wants to love somebody so it's a big thing for him, he wants to have a family and he's finally found someone who he really believes will be an amazing mum to his daughter.

"But it doesn't take much to prick that bubble that they've got themselves into - especially with the situation she's got herself in to - she's not grieved for Billy at all."
