When is Freedom on TV and how can I watch it?

Freedom will air on Channel 4 at 9pm TONIGHT, Monday 16 October.

It will then make its way to the channel's online streaming service and will remain there for at least thirty days.

It's not yet been confirmed if there will be a DVD release of the documentary.

What is Freedom about?

Freedom: The George Michael Story will follow the life of the Careless Whisper icon.

It will delve in to the story behind Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, and will feature perhaps the most A-list line-up of ‘talking heads’ ever.

The film, which has been backed by Sony Music, has been created by filmmaker and George's close friend, David Austin, and is meant to give a unique insight into the singer's life.

In the years before George died, he had removed himself from the spotlight, and had lived a more reclusive lifestyle.

As a result, the star opening his doors to the cameras was a huge deal for fans, who are eagerly awaiting the film's release.

Who else will be starring in Freedom?

It is not yet known how many A-listers will be taking part in the documentary, but Kate Moss has been spotted in George's home recently to shoot new scenes for the flick.

A source told The Sun that "major" stars will also be included in the film, with rumours Sir Elton John could be among them speaking out about the icon's legacy.

These are rumoured to include: Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Mary J Blige, Tony Bennett, Liam Gallagher, James Corden and Ricky Gervais.

But most excitingly for fans of fashion – and the nineties in general – will be the turns from the original ‘Supers’ who featured in his 1990 video for Freedom ’90.

Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista will all talk about their friendship with the 53-year-old and their role in the iconic clip – marking the first time they have been reunited in twenty-six years.

When was Freedom meant to be released and why was it delayed for so long?

Freedom was originally meant to be aired on Channel 4 this March and George had said he was putting finishing touches to the film in November 2016 - but after his death the film was put on hold.

Among the reasons for this was so the filmmakers could include the singer's sudden Christmas Day death.

As well as this, everyone interviewed for the programme spoke about him in present tense - as no one was expecting him to pass so quickly.

Following his passing, a chunk of the film is now having to be re-shot out of respect for the legend.
