George Shelley breaks his silence to pay emotional tribute to his sister Harriet who died aged 21

The former Union J star posted a picture of himself with his sibling and told his followers she was his best friend

GEORGE Shelley has spoken out for the first time since his sister Harriet died aged 21.

Harriet Shelley had been in intensive care after suffering severe head injuries in a car accident in Bristol on April 28.

The Sun Online revealed Harriet had sadly passed away last week after a close family friend confirmed the news.

Posting a picture of himself with his sister on Instagram, George wrote: “I will never accept that you're gone.
“You will always be with me. My best friend, my sister, my angel.
“Too pure and too beautiful to walk among humans, you now exist somewhere else, and I am honoured to have had the privilege to spend 21 years with you by my side.

“Don't get used to it up there without me, I'll see you soon beautiful girl. I love you.”

Since the news came to light, George has been inundated with messages of support from his famous pals.

Posting a message to the singer on his Twitter profile, Rylan – who was on The X Factor at the same time as George in 2012 – wrote: “Saying a prayer for all of you @higeorgeshelley .

“We all love you and your amazing family. Sending so much love #RIPHarrietShelley x.”

Love Island’s Kady also paid her own tribute to George and his family, tweeting: “Thoughts and prayers are with @higeorgeshelley and his family right now, absolutely devastating news…”

The ex-girlfriend of George's former bandmate Casey Johnson also paid her respects to Harriet online.

Betsy Blue told her followers: “My heart breaks for @higeorgeshelley .. thinking about you and your family. Harriet was a beautiful soul...”

George's old colleagues at Capital FM also sent a public message of support.

They wrote online: “@higeorgeshelley our thoughts are with you and your family, George. Sending you lots of love and monkey hugs...”

George's former Union J bandmates paid their respects to the I'm A Celebrity star on Sunday.

Josh Cuthbert told his fans: “Heartbroken about the news of Harriet Shelley. Such a lovely kind hearted girl. Will be missed so much. Thinking of you George brother.”

Harriet’s mother Toni Harris was at Harriet's bedside following the accident and said her daughter was “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.

Toni, from Clevedon, Somerset said nobody was to blame for the incident and that hospital staff had worked 24/7 to help her daughter.

A rep for George told The Sun online: “George and the entire family are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of their beloved, beautiful Harriet.

“They are all together, supporting each other at this difficult time and would appreciate the time and space to do so before they make any further comments.”
