Hollywood A-lister Charlie Hunnam wants to go back to his roots with a new series of Queer as Folk after role in King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword
CHARLIE HUNNAM rose up Hollywood’s A-list with his role in King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.
But he hasn’t forgotten where his career took off, playing schoolboy Nathan Maloney in Channel 4’s gay drama Queer As Folk.
The Geordie is so proud of his efforts in the ground-breaking series he’s making a bid to bring it back.
In an exclusive chat, he said: “I’d be game for a reunion. It’s a long time ago, I’m an old b****** now — that was 20 years ago.”
Charlie was reunited with Queer As Folk co-star AIDAN GILLEN on the set of GUY RITCHIE’s King Arthur blockbuster, 17 years after the TV show came off air.
And he’s clearly still in awe of the actor who starred alongside him.
He said: “I always felt like I owed him a grand debt of gratitude. I really thanked him for the impact he had on me. He thought I was mad but I felt it deeply.”
They featured in one of TV’s steamiest gay scenes, leading the show to be labelled way ahead of its time.
It followed the lives of three gay men on the Manchester club scene. Two series were made — in 1999 and 2000 — along with a US version.
Charlie said: “When I’m back in England, people still recognise me as Nathan.
“It was the beginning of my career, so I have very fond memories of it.
“I’m very proud of being a part of that show. I’m very happy when people bring it up.
“I’m just surprised because it was so long ago.”
The series was Channel 4’s defining moment for the gay community and changed my life having grown up in the Nineties.
It would be great to see it make a return.

Kylie all dolled up in pink
KYLIE JENNER looks so much like a Barbie doll I’m surprised she hasn’t got a string-pull in her back.
She showed off her waist and a blonde wig while striking some of the iconic figurine’s classic poses in a pink leotard.
After the shoot, she yesterday gave fans their first taste of her new reality show, Life of Kylie.
In a glitzy video montage to her Twitter page she was called a “Beauty Mogul” and “Pop Culture Icon”.
Barbie, yes. Kylie, I’m not so sure . . .
Mystery man is...
DAVID WALLIAMS kept this quiet. The Britain’s Got Talent judge appeared in a video for ANT and DEC in their Byker Grove’s PJ & Duncan days.
It was a cameo in the promo for 1995 single U Krazy Katz and his secret is exposed in tonight’s Britain’ Got More Talent on ITV2, hosted so brilliantly by STEPHEN MULHERN.
David a former gag writer for the duo, said: “Yes I was, OK, I was in the video . . . not one of their best songs.” BGT is on ITV tonight at 8pm.

MADONNA fans are in for a real treat thjis autumn. The singer is releasing a Rebel Heart Tour live DVD and live album on September 15, which features a huge 22 songs. You just know it will be well worth the investment.
King John
JOHN MAYER is the greatest singer-songwriter working in the world.
And yes, I know that is a big call.
The American packed the 02 Arena in London for two brilliant sold out shows.
John released his latest album The Search For Everything in three waves, taking advantage of the new world of streaming.
But he saved the best for last - his most recent single In The Blood is possibly his greatest song ever.
Speaking backstage before the gig in an exclusive chat, he told me: “I’m already thinking about the next album.
“I know the pressure will be on to write another In The Blood. That’s how my mind works.
“I released the song last because I didn’t want to talk about it because it’s so personal.”
Don’t just take my word for it.
Rita Ora
SHE’s back. Two years since releasing any music, RITA ORA has kicked off her comeback by announcing new single Your Song is out on May 26.
As I revealed last week, the track was written by ED SHEERAN, who knows a thing or two about producing smash hits.
Rita said: “Ed and I have been friends since our teens. It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to collaborate with him.
“We definitely click creatively.”
Roll on the next two weeks.

DON’T expect to see SIMON COWELL on the panel for the revamped series of American Idol. Asked if he would be returning to the show he said he “was asked to do it, and the answer is no”. Guess he’ll be sticking to X Factor.
Fonsi owes Bieber one
JUSTIN BIEBER is on fire at the moment – knocking his song with DJ KHALED I’m The One off the top spot with another collaboration.
His remix of Spanish summer anthem Despacito has raced to No1.
Tune creator LUIS FONSI said: “About three weeks ago I got a call from Justin’s camp saying he had heard the song in a club and loved it, so he wanted to jump on it. It was around four days that it all happened.
“It was released in the blink of an eye.”
If Justin is this quick at whipping up hits, his next album shouldn’t be far off.
