New explosive trailer reveals first look at second series of Doctor Foster, new twist in Peaky Blinders, Redwater and 25 more of your favourite BBC dramas
FANS of some of the BBC’s biggest dramas will not be disappointed as they’ve released an explosive new trailer showcasing the best of what’s coming up this year.
From the second series of Doctor Foster – with Suranne Jones looking more menacing than ever – to Kat and Alfie looking as though tragedy has struck in their spin-off Red Water, 2017 on the Beeb is looking very exciting indeed.
The BBC have also shared a first look at Benedict Cumberbatch’s one-off drama The Child In Time.
Adapted from Ian McEwan’s 1987 novel by the same name, it tells the story of children’s book author Stephen and his wife Julie two years after a horrifying incident.
Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington and Mark Gatiss make an appearance in new show Gunpowder while there’s a glimpse of action in JK Rowling’s adaptation of Strike.
In the trailer Howard’s End also gets a preview while Sean Bean is back for new series Broken.
The show tells the story of Father Michael Kerrigan, a Catholic Priest in Northern England who must battle his own secret struggles while being a confidante, counsellor and confessor to a community that is struggling to balance faith with the harsh realities of daily life.
Peter Capaldi also gets airtime in a teaser of what’s to come in the latest series of Doctor Who while Denise is seen giving Carmel an enormous slap in EastEnders.
The next series of Poldark is also teased, with Aidan Turner promising his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) that they’ll stick together through thick and thin.
James Norton returns to our sets for new crime drama McMafia while Carey Mulligan comes back to the small screen for BBC2 thriller Collateral.
The BBC also teased a lot of new shows in the trailer, including: The Last End, In The Dark, Man In The Orange Shirt, Three Girls, Rellik and Broken.
All the shows are set to continue, or begin, in the coming weeks and there are some sure fire hits hidden amongst the endless reels of footage.
Essentially: cancel all of your plans and prepare to spend more time with your TV or tablet than with the people you hold dear.
