BENIDORM star Sherrie Hewson is "happy" to be single at 66 and admits she "wouldn't know what to do"' if she went to bed with a man now.

The actress has remained on her own since she got divorced back in 2011, and she has no plans to do any more dating.

Sherrie's 28-year marriage to Ken Boyd, the father of her daughter, broke down six years ago and she has been mostly single ever since.

But the veteran TV star admits she is much happier on her own and can't imagine going to bed with another man.

During an appearance on Lorraine today, she insisted she has no plans to do any dating.

She said: "I'm happy by myself.

"I couldn't stand the mess [of having a man around]. I would have to go to bed with someone - what would I do?

"Could you imagine waking up to a man? It's much tidier [being single]."

She has sworn off dating just weeks after revealing she previously tried to find love online, but gave up after she was bombarded with rude pictures from prospective suitors.

She told The Sun: "Well, I went online, but they sent me photos of penises! I went, ‘What’s that? Oh!’ I hadn’t seen one for so long! Some were bent, and funny colours.”

Sherrie's love life is a big contrast to her Benidorm character Joyce Temple, who has an on/off romance with Monty, played by TV legend John Challis.
