Teary Ferne McCann cries about being a single mum on This Morning… but doesn’t mention ex’s alleged acid attack victims
WEEPING mum-to-be Ferne McCann was criticised earlier today for ignoring victims of an alleged acid attack by her ex.
Ferne, 26, dabbed her eyes on ITV’s This Morning as she spoke about the public support she had received.
But viewers tore into the ex-Towie star for not mentioning 22 people — two blinded — allegedly injured by Arthur Collins, 25.
M Rod tweeted: “Her concern is her career. Waiting to sign contract for TV show.”
Ex-Celeb Big Brother star Jasmine Lennard, 31, added: “At no point during that interview did she offer sympathy to the victims.”
But many leapt to her defence — and a source close to Ferne said she had been warned off talking about the incident by lawyers.
Naomi Lawrence tweeted: “Everyone’s saying Ferne McCann gets limelight and the victims don’t. She played no part in that attack. She was unaware.”
Another viewer said: “I feel upset for Ferne. She’s not responsible.”
The source close to the star added: “You can see by her face this has hurt her as it has everyone else. She has already made clear that her thoughts are with the victims of this horrific attack.
“But it’s a live legal issue, so she was unable to address it.”
Ferne got a hug from hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after going public for the first time since Collins’ April 22 arrest.
She told them: “This isn’t how I imagined my first pregnancy. But it isn’t about me and what’s happened, it’s about this baby.
“Being in the public eye was a concern. I thought, ‘Are the public going to judge me?’ But they have been so supportive. That’s what’s got me through.”
The acid attack happened on Easter Monday at Mangle club in Dalston, East London.
Collins, of Broxbourne, Herts, is charged with 15 counts of GBH and Andre Phoenix, 21, of Tottenham, North London, with seven.
They are in custody until a court appearance on May 22.
