Lisa Riley praises Brad Pitt’s candid interview about booze problem and opens up about personal battle with the bottle
LISA Riley has praised Brad Pitt for his honesty while discussing his struggles with alcohol – and confessed she has struggled with drink herself.
The 40-year-old star has opened up about her own issues just days after Hollywood star Brad, 53, got candid about his own struggles.
In her own column for , Lisa delivered some of her own home truths as she discussed Brad’s revelations.
Lisa reminded readers that just because people are famous doesn’t mean they don’t struggle with their own issues – and she expressed sadness that Brad had discovered he had a drink problem too late to save his own marriage.

“Alcohol is the demise of so many relationships. If someone is craving alcohol, they can take the frustration out on their partner, then once they have had a few drinks they are sweetness and light. But by the time it gets to drink number nine, the person can switch again and become nasty and cruel,” Lisa wrote.
She commended Brad for being “brave” in opening up about his problems and suggested he could have a positive impact on the world if his words help others wake up to their own problems.
Lisa explained she too battled the bottle as she dealt with a personal loss.
“I used alcohol as a crutch to deal with my total grief when my beloved mum passed away,” she explained.
“But two years ago I started to lose weight and gave up the booze – and I haven’t touched a drop since,” she continued.
“I didn’t have a problem with alcohol, but I know I had a problem with food, and I’ve talked abut it,” she added.
Earlier this week, Brad revealed his alcohol problems cost him his marriage to second wife, Angelina Jolie.
Posing for three sombre in his first photoshoot since splitting from Angelina, the 53-year-old has broken his silence on what led to the shock separation.
In a searingly honest chat he told the men’s mag: “I was boozing too much.
“It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again.”
He added: “Truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good.”
When asked how he simply stopped drinking, the Fight Club star said: “Don’t want to live that way anymore.”
