Coleen Nolan reveals reason her marriage to Shane Richie broke down due to their long distance relationship

COLEEN Nolan has revealed that the reason that her marriage to Shane Richie broke down is because of their long distance relationship.

She began speaking on the subject of long distance relationships on Loose Women today after they brought up The Sun exclusive that Mark Wright would be jetting off to the US after landing a huge telly gig.

This is while his wife Michelle Keegan is filming Our Girl abroad.

When asked whether she thought long distance relationships could work, she said: "It can and it has to because that's the situation they're in.

"For me, I think there's long distance for a certain amount of time but not a massive amount of time and I always say I think that's what ended my first marriage with Shane."

Shane and Coleen married in 1990 and had two sons (Shane Roche Jr and Jake Roche) before divorcing nine years later.

Coleen wed Ray Fensome in 2007 but admitted that they were having marriage troubles back in February. Shane married his current wife Christine Goddard the same year.

She went on to reveal that they had lived in London at the time and that he had landed a job in Manchester which had meant to be three months but ended up being 18.

Coleen admitted: "Gradually reality kicks in... now thinking back if I'd known it was going to be 18 months I probably would have [moved with him]."

She said that when he came home, the routine she had established at home was disturbed.

The 52-year-old added: "And of course he's shattered and he had a whole new set of friends and I had a whole new set of friends. So when I'm talking about them he doesn't know who I'm talking about and when he's talking about his new set of friends I don't care."

Shane also cheated on Coleen during their relationship and she has previously spoken about his infidelity.

Speaking on Loose Women last year about the moment she found out when speaking to his mistress' mum, she said: "I was so calm. It was that instant moment when I thought that’s it. My heart shut down."
