DUTCH COURAGE

Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha reveals she downed booze to give her courage during ‘frightening’ real body photoshoot

LOOSE Women's Nadia Sawalha dashed to the pub with co-stars Linda Robson and Jane Moore to down booze during a break from their "frightening" lingerie-clad photoshoot with rocker Bryan Adams.

This weekend, we revealed nine of the daytime TV hosts had stripped to their underwear for the snaps to promote the show's Body Stories campaign.

On today's Lorraine show, Nadia, 52, candidly admitted she was "really, really frightened" about getting her kit off but plucked up the courage as she realised "I needed to practise what I preach".

Yet the panellist - along with co-stars Jane Moore and Linda Robson - was also fuelled by a bit of Dutch courage.

She told show host Lorraine Kelly: "Bryan doesn't like you to have alcohol or food in the studio or anything like that.

"So at lunchtime, Linda, Jane and I escaped to the pub and had two swift ones to try to get through the afternoon!".

Nadia admitted the bunch had been banned from posing or even wearing high heels by Bryan, who was in charge of the non-retouched shoot.

She added the studio was filled with only natural light which showed their bodies in their "harsh" realities.

Yet she gushed their efforts had paid off and added: "It's up to women of our age to say 'no, this is enough'.

"We were expecting a bit of hate but there really hasn't been any."

She added that after showing the shots to her daughter, she "welled up" after the 14-year-old branded them "so cool."

Meanwhile her co-presenter Andrea McLean told show host Lorraine Kelly how important it was to bear her hysterectomy surgery scars on the shoot.

She said: "After my surgery I had to rest but it's when you step back and think: 'This is a powerful machine and it's produced children'.

"Stop worrying about a few lines and lumps and bumps."

Stacey Solomon, 27, is mum to Zachary, nine, and Leighton, four, and has been with her partner TV presenter Joe Swash, 35, since 2015. She says:

"While I’ve been the same weight most of my life, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have some body hang-ups.

"At 27, I’m the only one of my friends with saggy, breastfeeding boobs, as they haven’t had kids yet.

"But in reality, everyone has something they don’t like. I’ve also got stretch marks and I remember once thinking my ankles were too skinny after someone told me I needed to put on weight. I tried to laugh it off, but subconsciously those comments make you think about yourself in a not very nice way.

"It wasn’t the first time someone had mentioned my body shape and I don’t think people realise there’s a real stigma against slim people. I always get comments like: ‘You need to eat more,’ or ‘You’re so skinny, you don’t look well.'

"They think it can’t be hurtful because they’re not calling me fat, but those words stick and I wonder if I do look unhealthy.

"When I’ve had discussions about it on Loose Women, some say: ‘Poor you with your skinny problems,’ but I don’t think there’s a difference between being told you look terrible for being too skinny or too big. Neither is acceptable.

"When I was a kid, I never worried about the way I looked as I was too busy having fun. I feel fortunate that I didn’t have the worries of social media growing up.
