Axed Union J star Casey Johnson splits from X Factor girlfriend Betsy-Blue English
The X Factor couple were together for two years before calling it quits
CASEY Johnson has split from X Factor girlfriend Betsy-Blue English – a day after being axed from boyband Union J.
The pair have called time on their relationship following a two-year romance after first meeting on reality show Stage School.
A source said: “Casey and Betsy have decided to go separate ways.
“They knew in January their relationship wasn't working but hoped they would be able to salvage what they had.
"Betsy missed Casey when he was on the road with Union J so it just didn't work out. She didn't always like female fans talking to him.
“Casey is keen to pursue more television work while Betsy has been spending a lot of time in the recording studio in LA.
"She's been getting a lot of attention from American fans but has chosen to stay single in order to focus on her music career.”
The singer – who appeared on The X Factor in 2014 with band Only The Young – first started dating Casey after the pair starred on E4’s Stage School.
They were together for two years – and also appeared on series 11 of The X Factor together.
It’s been a tough week for Casey, formerly of Stereo Kicks, who was axed from Union J yesterday.
The X Factor group have just been taken over by new management who believe the singer didn’t fit the image.
They want remaining members JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley and Josh Cuthbert to continue as a trio.
Casey joined Union J last May following George’s shock departure.
He quit after a successful stint on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2015 where he came second.
Casey will now be going down the TV route, rather than pursuing music, as close pals say he could be taking part in this summer’s Love Island.
