Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh is to be immortalised as a Blackpool waxwork

Actress, 30, claims she 'couldn't believe it' when approached by Madame Tussauds

KYM Marsh will live forever as the singer turned actress becomes the next celeb to be immortalised as a waxwork.

The lookalike figure will be displayed at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool as part of their popular Coronation Street set.

The honour is being given to Kym in recognition of her role on the ITV soap as feisty Michelle Connor – though fans of pop music could argue it should be for her work with record-breaking group, Hear’Say or her Top 2 smash with solo attempt, Cry.

Kym’s character Michelle Connor will join a long list of Corrie icons to be created as waxworks at the Blackpool attraction including Deidre Barlow, Jack and Vera Duckworth, Hilda Ogden and Weatherfield’s most notorious fan of animal print, Bet Lynch.

The 40-year-old actress said she “couldn’t believe it” when she was approached by Madame Tussauds and added: “It’s been fascinating to be involved in the process and see first-hand how the figures are made.

It’s such an honour, especially as I’m being placed amongst Corrie royalty in the Rovers Return Inn – I can’t wait to see the figure!”

The waxwork will reportedly be standing in a casual pose with arms folded, dressed in a relaxed outfit of a loose, grey top, black jeans and boots.

Kym first arrived on the cobble streets as Michelle Connor in 2006 and has gone on to become one of the soap’s most loved characters.

Recent storylines include a heartbreaking miscarriage and explosive break up with on-screen husband Steve McDonald.

Appearing on Lorraine, Kym recently revealed how she was worried what devoted viewers would make of Michelle's new romance with Robert Preston, played by Tristan Gemmill.

Kym revealed: "It was funny because... I absolutely love Tristan, he's a wonderful actor and a lovely human being, but we were both like 'what are the viewers going to make of this?' because they are so invested in Steve and Michelle for so many years."
