Who is Kirsty Young?

Kirsty Young was born on November 23, 1968, in East Kilbride, Scotland.

She attended Cambusbarron Primary School and Stirling High School.

She began her presenting career in 1989, working as a continuity announcer for BBC Radio Scotland.

Three years later she snagged a presenting gig on the main evening news programme Scotland Today.

She also hosted her own self-titled show called Kirsty.

Does Kirsty Young own an island?

Kirsty Young does in fact own an island.

The former Desert Island Discs host in 2020 when it went up for sale for £1.6million.

The 103-acre Inchconnachan island is located on Loch Lomond.

The island is well known for its colony of wallabies.

It was owned by the aristocratic Colquhoun family since the 14th century but fell into disrepair in recent years.

Kirsty's husband, Nick Jones, made his wealth through the £ 1.4 billion Soho House chain of private members' clubs.

"Having been forced to take some months away from my favourite job because of health problems. I'm happy to say I'm now well on the way to feeling much better.

"But that enforced absence from the show has altered my perspective on what I should do next and so I've decided it's time to pursue new challenges."

Is Kirsty Young married and how many children does she have?

Kirsty is married to businessman Nick Jones after tying the knot in 1999.

They share two daughters together, called Freya, born February 2000, and Iona, born April 2006.

She also has two stepchildren from Nick's first marriage, Natasha and Oliver.
