EastEnders spoilers: Jack Branning struggles to cope as grief over late wife Ronnie Mitchell threatens to overwhelm him
JACK Branning finds he can't go about his normal life as he is overwhelmed with grief at Ronnie Mitchell's death.
Although his brother Max repeatedly encourages him to go out and get on with things, he finds it harder than it sounds and sinks back into a deep state of grief.
Stills from upcoming episodes show he manages to keep it together to read a story to his daughter Amy and Ronnie's son Matthew.
While he is also able to help Amy feel better another time with the help of his step-mum Dot Cotton.
But Jack confides in Max about how difficult he is finding everything, making Max worry his brother is not going to be able to get himself back on track.
Max shares his concerns with their step-mum Dot and keeps checking in on his brother - but as grief threatens to take over Jack's whole life is there anything they can do to help?
Jack is not alone in grieving wife Ronnie, who died along with her sister Roxy on New Year's Day, after drowning in a tragic swimming pool accident.
The day had started brilliantly as Jack and Ronnie got married - and she looked stunning in a white lace dress that looked to be modelled after Kate Middleton.
But Ronnie and Roxy went off to have a moment together, which is where things quickly went wrong.
Roxy quickly got into trouble when she jumped into the pool after having a bit too much to drink - while Ronnie was weighed down by her dress as she tried to save her sister.
Fans saw Jack sob after his brother Max Branning informed him about the tragedy.
He cried: “It’s not Ronnie, she told me she was coming back.
“It can’t be Ronnie, we’ve only just got married, she told me she was coming back.”
