MASTERCHEF viewers had their hearts stamped on when moustachioed hero Selwyn was unceremoniously shown the door after he failed to impress in the kitchen.
The elderly star was seen sinking to his knees after he prepared an under-cooked main and similarly undercooked desert for a panel of dining experts.
The Masterchef hopeful saw time turn against him as he tried to prepare an ambitious main of Loin of lamb with a pistachio and sumac crust, courgette and tomato timbale, and sauté potatoes.
Presenting his dish to the experts, Selwyn hinted that they were in for a disgusting meal, saying: “I hope you'll forgive the delay and I hope you like it more than I do.”

Bald headed host Gregg Wallace commented that time had been his downfall.
“Poor Selwyn. He's just attempted far too much. He's realised he can't get it done in time and this is what happens,” he said.
The elderly contestant then presented his desert of plum frangipane tartlet, spiced plum compote, cinnamon creme Chantilly – but didn’t sound too enthusiastic about it either as he gifted it to the panel.
“I hope it tastes better than it looks,” he said.
However it was a complete disaster – as the pastry was deemed undercooked and raw, the cream was curdled, and the cinnamon was overpowering.
Seemingly knowing he had fluffed it big time, Selwyn was seen falling to the floor in despair after he served his food.
And his fears proved correct as he was sacked form the show by Gregg and fellow host John Torode.
“There was a lot of skill on show. There was the odd bit of kerfuffle. The odd panic,” John said, reviewing the dishes from the evening.
“Look, look. We both know, and I think Selwyn knows, he had a little bit of a meltdown. He'd given himself too much to do and it resulted in two not very good dishes,” Gregg said.
Selwyn was not surprised when he was sent packing, saying: “Not really surprised. I knew I made a mess of it. I wouldn't have put me through, so I don't see why they should.”
However it was an extra insult for the chef as no one else was sent home as all four remaining contestants advanced to the next round.
Viewers flooded Twitter with comments as Selwyn unpacked his locker and left the Masterchef kitchens never to be seen again.
“Goodbye Selwyn. I shall never forget you!” tweeted one bereft fan.
“Masterchef is brutal when you have a day like Selwyn has had!” tweeted another.
While another focused on the tragic last scenes of Selywn, tweeting: “#MasterChef Poor Selwyn....waiting to commiserate with the other contestant in the changing rooms and no-one comes through the door.”
