Harry Styles’ mum Anne Twist praises son for caring for ill grandad as she opens up about his solo career and One Direction’s future

HARRY Styles’s mum Anne Twist has praised her son for caring for his ill grandad who suffers with Parkinson’s disease.
In a rare interview given to The Sun’s Bizarre column, she said Harry has been “absolutely brilliant” with Brian Selley who has had the disease for several years.
Referring to Harry and his sister Gemma, she said: “They have been absolutely brilliant. They love him to death and he is so proud of them.
“My father has Parkinson's and I have been a member of the charity for three or four years now and they have been very helpful with the help that he has had and he is lucky enough to have a Parkinson's nurse who is local to him and I know not everybody has that.
“He started off with a tremor which was just diagnosed as a tremor in his 70's and then it's just sort of been, I mean he is 81 and he'll be 82 this year, so it's just progressed.
“He goes to weekly exercise classes and he is really trying his best. It's a slow progression but a couple of years ago we weren't sure how long he was going to be because he was really quite poorly.”
She went on to speak about Harry’s solo career following the release of his debut single Sign of the Times, and ahead of his self-titled solo album which is out on May 12.
On the album, Anne, 47, said: “I loved it. I loved it. It’s brilliant. It made me cry.
“It's all good and it's just a little step forward for him.
“He has been working really hard so obviously I haven't seen a massive amount of him but a bit more than before.
“It's been nice being able to spend a bit of quality time with him now and again.”
Harry, now 23, spent five years touring the world with One Direction until the band decided to go on hiatus at the end of 2015.
But asked about whether she thought they would ever reform, Anne admitted she was unsure.
She explained: “You never know. You never say never.
“It was great for him. He loved it. He loved every minute of it and it got him where he is now.”
As well as launching his solo career with new single Sign of the Times, he will make his Hollywood debut in war epic Dunkirk in July.
But Anne admitted she is in the dark about the flick as she has only seen the trailer which was released in December.
She added: “Obviously my dad is very excited about that. We will have to see if we can get him to the premiere.
“I have only seen the trailer. I am as excited as everybody else I think.”
