KYM Marsh has revealed her Coronation Street character Michelle Connor could forgive husband Steve McDonald following his Leanne Battersby betrayal.

The Rovers Return barmaid was left devastated earlier this year when she discovered Steve (Simon Gregson) had fathered a child with Leanne, which arrived weeks after the couple sadly lost their own baby.

While Michelle currently seeks vengeance against Steve, and has also embarked on a new romance with Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) , Kym admits it may not be the end of the line for her alter ego and her spouse.

Speaking to Christine Lampard on Thursday's Lorraine, Kym said: "It was funny because... I absolutely love Tristan, he's a wonderful actor and a lovely human being, but we were both like 'what are the viewers going to make of this?' because they are so invested in Steve and Michelle for so many years."

Christine added the viewers will still angry with Steve for what he had done to Michelle, but Kym said: "People will still forgive him though."

The host then said how she thinks Michelle will too, and Kym replied: "Oh well that remains to be seen, even I don't know."

The actress also revealed there could be some lighter moments for her alter ego in the future after such a hard-hitting storyline.

She said: "I have had a lot of comedy to play, particularly being paired with someone like Simon, who I adore.

"Actually I find Simon funnier when he's being serious, he makes me laugh, but it's because he laughs when he's being serious, he can't help it."

Christine also wanted to know if Kym would accept the olive branch offered to her by Leanne in a recent episode.

But Kym said: "I think the only thing she wants to do with the olive branch is whack her with it, I don't see it resolving any time soon."
