Who is Richard Coyle? Born to Kill actor who plays Peter and star of Coupling and The Fall
RICHARD Coyle plays Peter, a murderer and secret father to protagonist Sam, in Channel 4's sinister drama Born to Kill.
The Sheffield-born actor has played fools, chancers and romantic leads over his long career, but this may be his darkest role to date. Here's the lowdown...
But what do we know about Richard's career, love life and forays into Hollywood film-making?
Here's all the info you need on him...
What do I know Richard Coyle from?
The 45-year-old's most prominent role was as failed womaniser Jeff in the BBC sitcom Coupling, which ran from 2000 to 2004.
It was written by former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat and much of the comedy came from Jeff's ridiculous ideas about relationships.
But Richard has since tried to distance himself from the show, saying: "I'm very proud to have been part of Coupling and very grateful for the chance to play Jeff but I was very keen that that character didn’t stick with me forever. I’m an actor and I want to be an actor when I’m 60."
You may have seen him recently in BBC drama The Fall, in which he played Dr Joe O'Donnell, alongside Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson, for three episodes.
Has he been in any movies I know?
Richard's biggest movie roles are probably in The Libertine alongside Johnny Depp and in Madonna's first movie W.E.
Best forgotten is his role as Jake Gyllenhaal’s older brother, the ambiguous Crown Prince Tus, in 2010 turkey Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
The Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard movie A Good Year - in which Richard played a minor role - was also a bit of a stinker.
Perhaps his most successful brush with Hollywood was on the stage, when he starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in the play Proof, way back in 2002.
Is Richard single?
Sorry folks, Richard is going out with Irish actress Ruth Bradley, 30, and has been with her since 2011.
He also has an eight-year-old daughter called Purdy with his ex-wife, another actress from Wales called Georgia Mackenzie, who he divorced in 2010.
Among Richard's closest friends are Shameless star Dean Lennox Kelly, whose brother is Corrie star Craig Kelly.
What is Born to Kill and when is it on?
