Piers Morgan asks Susanna Reid if she has been drinking on Good Morning Britain after on-air gaffe
The presenter struggled to get her words out on Wednesday's show
PIERS Morgan cheekily asked Susanna Reid if she had been drinking on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain after she made an on-air gaffe.
The presenter was discussing the day's big headlines after Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap General Election on Tuesday, but stumbled over the word "relishes".
Her co-host immediately glanced over at her and said: "You alright today? You said John McDonnell had a chateau when he's the Shadow Chancellor, now you're [makes slurred speech noise].
"Have you been drinking?"
Without missing a beat or batting an eyelid at her co-star's question, Susanna replied: "Yep....just coffee though".
The pair then moved on with the news, but Piers landed himself in some hot water a few minutes later when he started to discuss the Prime Minister's hair.
He said: "Can we start with her bob? She's had a haircut, it's an election power bob isn't it?
"Are we allowed to say that? Are we allowed to comment?"
His female co-stars didn't seem to agree, as Charlotte Tobin could be heard replying: "No! You can't talk about her hair, she made a really serious announcement and the first thing you want to talk about is her hair?"
Defending himself, Piers said: "I think it's a very deliberate power bob."
Viewers were divided over his comments, with one writing on Twitter: "Why is @piersmorgan making fun of Teresa May's hair?!
"If a man was leading the party he'd have gone straight into the politics! #Sexist #GMB".
However another said: "#GMB Not sexist to mention a woman's hair clothes etc. If you spend lots of money and time on how you look it's complimentary & appreciative."
