Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall hits back at claims final series was too ‘far-fetched’
BROADCHURCH creator Chris Chibnall has hit back at claims the final series was too “far-fetched”.
The drama boss claimed viewers were wrong to criticise some of the programme’s more unbelievable scenes.
He said: “One of the difficult things when you write something like this and you research it and you put it on television is a lot of people go, ‘That would never happen’. It does. That’s the way it happens.”
Tackling one viewer’s complaint at a post-show Q&A about Trish Latimer’s first interview post-rape taking place in a crowded cafe, he insisted: “That’s what happens. That has to happen.
“You can talk to our team over there. The first interview happens in a public place and that was built on research.
He will now focus on his next writing job at the helm of BBC drama Doctor Who.
