Missing People Choir featuring Claudia Lawrence’s dad reduces Simon Cowell to tears as they sing ballad inspired by the haunting memories of their lost children on Britain’s Got Talent
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when the Missing People’s choir sang to try and help find their children
SIMON Cowell was reduced to tears alongside his fellow Britain’s Got Talent judges after listening to the Missing People’s choir audition.
The charity choir – revealed they entered the show to try and help find their loved ones.
The choir included missing chef Claudia Lawrence’s father Peter.
One of the choir said before their performance: “When we sing there will be photographs on the screen behind us and we’re hoping someone will come forward if they know anything.”
Their haunting version of I Miss You brought Simon, Alesha, David and Amanda to tears.
Standing in the wings, Ant McPartin couldn’t hold back his emotions and started to wipe away tears.
After their performance, the judges praised their bravery and the work of the charity in helping the families of those who are missing.
Their song received a standing ovation from the audience who were moved by what they saw.
Two mothers in the group are still searching for their sons, Quentin Godwin and Charles Hovarth Allen.
Sarah Godwin’s son Quentin was just 18 years old when he walked out his home in New Zealand – never to be seen again.
Sarah, who now lives in Surrey, reveals her son would now be 42-years-old.
Quentin was diagnosed with bi-polar shortly before he disappeared from their home and Sarah has never given up hope of finding her son.
Asked what she would say to her son if she saw him again, Sarah said in 2015: “Let us know where you are and how you are. Just let us know how your life is really and if you didn't want to get in touch, fine, but it would be fantastic to know you are around.”
Charles Hovarth-Allen’s mother Denise is also in the choir. He was backpacking in Kelowna in Canada in 1989 when he went missing.
Charles has now been missing for 27 years and Denise is still trying to find him.
She said previously of her son’s disappearance: “I knew something terrible had happened to him, but the brain won't allow you to believe that he's gone.”
“It's not possible to move on. Every day you get through it hoping against all odds that maybe somebody will stand up and tell the truth.”
