A legendary US rock star looked almost unrecognisable in a rare public appearance backstage at The Comedy Store.

His public appearance delighted fans months after he announced more health struggles.

Dressed in a grey sweater with a well-groomed white beard, he posed for a photo with friends including country musician Marcus King.

One die-hard fan recognised him right away and dropped a fire emoji in the comments, writing: "God dammit Josh!"

Another said: "Wow …Josh wtf dude you find the real Fountain of Youth or what man … anyway as a Long time fan of both y’all It’s super awesome to see talent hanging out."

Josh Homme, the one and only frontman of Queens of the Stone Age, has resurfaced after a tough year.

He has faced plenty of personal struggles including a battle with cancer and past substance issues.

The 51-year-old rock icon was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and underwent successful surgery.

Queens of the Stone Age then cancelled all their remaining 2024 tour dates back in August.

The band initially scrapped eight European shows before calling off their entire US tour.

In a statement, they said: “Josh has been given no choice but to prioritise his health and receive essential medical care through the year.”

However, despite his struggles, the rockstar remains optimistic, previously stating: “There’s a lot of stuff I want to do. And there’s a lot of people I want to do that with.”

Josh has also been through an acrimonious divorce with Distillers’ singer Brody Dalle and a well-publicised custody battle for their three kids.

He told The Sun in 2023 that writing album In Times New Roman helped him through his darkest moments, and his kids helped him through his mental health issues.

“Being a father is everything to me,” he says proudly. “Showing emotion and understanding is what little ones need to see too, so they understand.

“And fatherhood is about getting up and being there for them. They’ve got me through my darkness.

“You can be sad, heartbroken, in love and lost but you still have to get up in the morning and do something about it. It’s the thing that starts you.”
