Michael Bolton cancels London show with eighties rock legend amid brain cancer battle
Fans became concerned about Michael when they noticed he wasn't moving around much on stage
MUSIC legend Michael Bolton has heartbreakingly cancelled his highly anticipated London O2 show as he continues his brave battle with brain cancer.
The 71-year-old was set to take to the stage on July 5 but has now been forced to pull out as he focuses on his recovery from surgery.
Announcing the cancellation on social media, Michael told fans: “Today we are announcing the cancellation of my July 5th concert at the O2 Arena in London.
“You all know how much I was looking forward to this show but I am continuing to heal from surgery.
“Thank you for all your love and positive energy over this past year. I am so grateful to have the most supportive fans in the world.
“Your tickets will be automatically refunded.”
The How Am I Supposed to Live Without You singer revealed in January last year that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and had undergone emergency surgery.
He has since been focusing on his recovery, but despite his best efforts, has now had to withdraw from the highly anticipated London gig.
Michael, who has sold over 75 million records worldwide, had originally booked 80s icon Bonnie Tyler to open the show.
Fans became concerned about Micahel in 2023 when they noticed he wasn’t moving around much on stage.
The Go The Distance singer then updated fans in January 2024 and said he underwent “immediate surgery” weeks before.
Bolton wrote on Facebook: “I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year!
“I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges.
“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery.
“Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”
He made a name for himself with the ballad How Am I Supposed To Live Without You, which was released in 1990 and peaked at No4 in the UK charts.
His announcement came after Bolton had fans concerned after his performance during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.
Viewers were left wondering about the state of the singer’s health as at least one viewer thought he appeared to be “in pain.”
Bolton originally sang heavy metal songs from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s – both on his early solo albums and those he recorded as the frontman of the band Blackjack.
