Who is Jasmine Armfield? EastEnders’ Bex Fowler, supporter of Be Kind anti-bullying campaign and singer – all you need to know
JASMINE Armfield has had the nation in tears as her EastEnders character Bex Fowler battles bullying.
But who is the young actress who plays her and what is her involvement with the Be King anti-bullying campaign?
Who is Jasmine Armfield?
Jasmine Carol Armfield was born on 17 December 1998 in Southend-on-Sea.
She is known for being the fourth actress to take on the role of Rebecca Fowler (better known as Bex) in BBC1 soap EastEnders.
Before she became famous she was a student at the Pauline Quirke Academy for the Performing Arts.
What is the bullying storyline Jasmine Armfield's EastEnders character Bex Fowler has been involved in?
Over the last month Bex Fowler has been the subject of school bullies.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their torment after seeing school meanies Madison and Alexandra along with Louise Mitchell, came into Bex's room and smash her guitar.
The trio have been bullying her for weeks - they have beaten her up at school, put chewing gum in her hair and verbally abused her.
When asked what it’s like acting out such tough scenes, Jasmine told This Morning: “When we’re filming, they really do scare me, it’s in their eyes.
“To watch it, even acting it, even when they edit it together, it’s distressing viewing.
“She wants to say something, she’s too scared.”
What anti-bullying charity is Jasmine Armfield now working with?
Following her big EastEnders storyline, Jasmine has joined forces with This Morning's Be Kind Campaign.
Speaking about the campaign, Jasmine said it can be hard for others to speak out when they see their pals being bullied.
She said: “I think because the bullies have so much ‘power’ they’re nervous to step in in case they get caught in with it as well.”
Viewers are encouraged to get involved with the campaign by watching the Be Kind video and helping to share it among their family and friends.
Is Jasmine Armfield a singer?
Jasmine has released her own debut single as her character Bex Fowler’s music storyline continues in the soap.
Viewers were stunned by her beautiful voice after she sang Dido’s White Flag on the show in the Queen Vic.
Now her character Bex is writing her own songs on-screen with one called Boxed Up Broken Heart about her ex boyfriend Shakil.
Opening up about the song, Jasmine said: “Bex has written this song because she’s got so much going on in her life. She’s got all these different feelings and all these different emotions.
“She can’t quite put it all into words so I think her way to get round that is to just put it all into a song and to sing about it instead.
“Each lyric has something behind it to hopefully help Bex and to get through to Shakil, there’s definitely a message in there for him.”
Jasmine admitted she was nervous ahead of recording the track with songwriter Gwyneth Herbert.
